Mandukaya Upanishad Om or Aum is a Hindu word and sound specific to the Hindu religion. Om is made up of three Sanskrit letters — au, au, and ma — to create both the word and symbol Aum (commonly spelled Om). Yet it isn't a word or symbol but rather an intonation. Speaking the word-symbol-sound Om in the correct intonation centers the body, mind and spirit. It is used at the beginning of the day and so becomes a prayer. It is often written on tests and important documents and so becomes both prayer and blessing.
