About Us
Aluuna's Wind is a multi-faith metaphysical store. That means we carry religious and metaphysical items for all major religions and positive paths. We've been in business since 2003, meeting people at fairs, festivals and conventions. We were asked too many times, "Where's your shop?" so we opened a brick-n-mortar store in Lee's Summit, Missouri. In addition to selling merchandise, we also offered classes, events and readings. After three years, we decided to close the doors and go back to what we love doing best... traveling on the road and meeting new people. One could say that we have a gypsy nature and don't like being tied down to one location. While it was terrific fun and we met hundreds of remarkable people, our store name caught up with us. Aluuna called the store "Aluuna's Wind" because she goes wherever the winds of the Universe push her.
That doesn't mean we've abandoned our friends from the store. We still have the shop telephone number as a cellphone so anyone can contact us for phone readings. In addition to this website, we also have an eBay store. You can find it at http://stores.ebay.com/Aluunas-Wind-Mini-Store.
The first is that at their core, these religions suggest love and compassion for all people. Whether it's "Love Thy Neighbor" or "Harm None," there is a religious doctrine of treating everyone with respect and dignity. We may not all share the same definition of a higher power, but we do believe that walking a path of faith and good works brings us closer to that Creator.
Yes, there will be those who, on seeing one or more of the customer faiths we serve, will become greatly offended. This is a sad but historical fact of human nature, most often caused by misunderstanding and ignorance. Would you be surprised to learn that throughout the Roman Empire, it was believed that Christians drank human blood and ate flesh? Simple misunderstanding of communion. Or that women accused of brewing spells and potions were often hanged or burned at the stake as witches? In most cases, these women were only guilty of knowing midwifery and the medicinal uses of herbs. Boiling birch bark to create aspirin carried the death penalty.
It is also a sad reminder of history that the positive precepts of our faiths can be twisted for purposes of dark and evil people. The Crusades were fought between Christian and Muslim in the Middle Ages to determine which faith was "better." Followers of both faiths attempted to convert others by the sword; those who refused were murdered. It would be pleasant to think that such atrocities like the Spanish Inquisition are things of the past. September 11th, 2001 showed us differently. Regardless of the positive examples of faithful millions, religions can still be kidnapped by those with evil hearts.
That is our history. It was most often the result of fear, prejudice and misunderstanding. Those of us at Aluuna's Wind would like to help replace ignorance with knowledge. It isn't an easy task. Each faith has multiple denominations, each with their own unique set of rituals and specific needs. While we're constantly learning about religious practices, there is no way that we can be experts on every faith.
Instead, we would like to rely on your own expertise in your specific path. Feel free to educate us -- and as we receive emails from customers, we'll be happy to post their wisdom online so others may gain a better insight into their faith. If you don't mind others reading your thoughts, please send us an email and your permission to post your words online.
The only thing we ask is that the correspondence be courteous and respectful to people of any faith. Our goal is to help remove religious intolerance and increase respect for people of all positive faiths. That's one thing we all have in common...whether it's "Harm None" or "Love Thy Neighbor," our religions have a version of the Golden Rule. Please join us in providing a shining example of what can be done when people of faith get together for positive purposes.
Thank you for your patronage!
